Mayor Mom - 21/10/'07

My Mother AMAZES me

A few years ago, she decided to move out to the countryside and get a nice lil' place near a small village.

Within a couple weeks, she knew everyone there and was involved in many efforts to improve the livelihoods of its citizens and the environment around it.


Then a couple days ago, we were on the phone and the following happened:


Me: Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah...

Mom: Oh, I've got to run, I have to go to the town council office and get sworn in

Me: Blah Blah... Wha? Sworn in as what?

Mom: I didn't tell you? I ran for town council. They need some help in there and I was pretty sure I can do it, so I ran and was elected "MAYOR"

Me: Huh? Sureal?

Mom: Sureal. By a landslide. Largest voter turnout ever, of course it probably helped that I visited EVERY citizen and baked 'em cookies

Me: Since when did you start baking?

Mom: I didn't tell you? Well...

(okay, that wasn't "really" the conversation, but that is what I'll remember...)
